2020: The year of Hell

Remember the time where we all thought: " this is it, this is the end, this year is going to end us all!"

Well if you didn't, I most certainly did, my overthinking had led me to believe that 18 was the last year of my life as everything was happening in the world made it seem that even the worst moments that had happened in my life were nothing compared to what was coming. Now I may sound a bit dramatic and you may be wondering what is wrong with this girl but I'm just living up to my title, "over dramatic".

Anyways let's not get  distracted, from a deadly pandemic to a worldwide racial justice movement, 2020 had a lot to share with us. Everyone goes through hell once or twice in their lives, and well for the planet earth 2020 was that year and that's why it got titled as: "2020: THE YEAR OF HELL"

The year 2020 had more than its fair share of world changing events. It all started with the Australian bushfires, the country had faced one of its severe wildfire seasons, with blazes burning a record 47 million acres, displacing thousands of residents and killing at least 34 people from December 2019 to January 2020. Unfortunately Australia was not the only one country that faced wildfires, since mid August, deadly wildfires have raged from California to Washington, destroying millions of acres and displacing hundred's of thousands of people. Hats off to the firefighters...

Moving on from the fires, let's talk about the deadly virus that is still destroying human's lives and refuses to take a break, the famous, life threatening corona virus.

A fatal coronavirus was discovered in Wuhan, China and in just a few months, the virus infected more than 20 million individuals around the world, killing at least 751,000 people. Talk about taking a revenge.

The mother earth must have really lost her patience when the Asian giant hornet reached Washington state, it was the first time the invasive insect was seen in the United States. the hornets which can grow up to 2cm long can wipe out the entire bee colonies in a  matter of hours,

The news that shocked me the most was the Beirut, Lebanon explosion, At least 190 people were killed and others were injured in a major explosion at a Beirut port on Aug, 4 caused inadvertent detonation of 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate.

One of the unfortunate events that shook the world and made everyone stand on their feet was the black lives matter protest,
The deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor by police last year ignited a surge of peaceful — and sometimes violent — protests and riots throughout the world, demanding an end to police brutality and racial injustice. In August, when 29-year-old Jacob Blake was shot by a Kenosha, Wisconsin, officer and paralyzed from the waist down, further demonstrations arose. Everyone is equal and deserves a place in this world, some people really acting like they are the ones who created the universe and it's up to them who stays and who doesn't...

Weird, after how all of this god is still giving us a chance to live on this planet, it's funny how earth hasn't given up on us ungrateful humans but even a small change can make a difference. Let's just hope that a change can actually bring a difference to this deadly yet beautiful planet.
