Third genration child.

 What exactly is a third generation child?  How do we know if someone is a third generation child?. A third generation child is an individual who are raised in a culture other than their parents or they are raised in a culture of their country of nationality. they are also known as third culture kids.

The interesting thing about third culture kids is that they move between cultures before they have had the opportunity to fully develop their culture identity. As a third culture kid myself I didn't know if I should feel special or heart broken, I felt like there was no place for me in this world. I did not know much about the country I was born in and I felt like an outsider in the country I was brought up in. 

Third culture kids are quite extraordinary if I say so myself, they are highly adaptive, they are able to cross cultures with ease, they are more open minded just look at me :), they are more empathetic and better at communication. Now you may think wow this girl is just describing herself but trust me I'm not, all of this has been shown in various studies and reports. 

 With every benefit there are challenges, and of course being a third culture kid has its own challenges, TCK lack close relationships, they have a hard time maintaining relationships with their close families and they have to put more effort in than other because of the distance and constant movement. The most distinct challenge for TCK is culture shock, the individual feels disorientated when they move to a different country that has an unfamiliar way of life. They suddenly have to adapt to a new environment when they spend all that time and effort adapting to the previous environment, which sometimes makes them feel isolated and helpless. It is also a lot more difficult for these people to again adapt to their home country, experience of living overseas makes them feel foreign in their home country.

Day by day, third culture kids are rising as the world is getting more multinational. they can be found anywhere around the world, but if you look closely pros can outweigh the cons easily if the parents are willing to understand and help the kid or individual adapt to the place and support them.
